Crop Progress Report for the Week of August 26, 2019

The next report is projected to include progress of corn mature.  Corn dough is at 71% overall which is behind 2018 by 20%.  NC is reporting 97% dough which is the same progress as last year.  MI, ND, and WI are the only states reporting under 50% progress.  Corn dented is at 27% overall with all states now reporting corn dented.  Some states are still under 10% dented.  NC has the most progress here with 90% dented.

Soybeans blooming are at 94% overall where in 2018 this was at 100%.  Recently MN reached 100% blooming.  All states are reporting at least 80% blooming.  Soybeans setting pods are at 79% overall.  LA is reporting 100% setting pods which is the same progress LA had in 2018 for this time of year.  All states are reporting at least 60% setting pods.

Cotton setting bolls are at 90%.  AZ, AR, and LA are now reporting 100% setting bolls.  Cotton bolls opening are at 28% overall.  Furthest along is AZ at 50% and then GA and TX are over 30% opening.  CA, KS, and TN are reporting under 10% opening.

Sorghum headed is at 86% overall with all states reporting at least 80% headed.  Sorghum coloring is at 41% overall with TX reporting 86%, CO reporting 7% and the other states between 20-30%.  Sorghum mature is at 22% overall with 73% progress in TX, 9% progress in OK.  Sorghum harvest has started and TX is the only state harvesting at this time and is reporting 69% harvested.

Rice headed is at 96% overall with all but MO reporting over 95% headed.  Rice is expected to reach 100% headed in the coming weeks.  Rice harvest is at 15% harvested with AR and MS most recently starting their harvest this week.
