Crop Progress Report for the Week of November 5, 2019

Harvest is the word of the week!  Corn mature is at 96% this week but will be at 100% by the end of this week.  Corn harvest is now past the halfway mark.  ND is the only state under 20% harvested but MI, SD, and WI are under 30% harvested.  Usually these three states are past 50% for this time of year.  NC and TN are both at 99% harvested so should be finished by the end of this week.  This progress is ahead of previous years for both states.

Soy harvest is at 75% overall; behind previous years’ progress.  Only NC is under 50% harvested but it is still ahead of its own previous years’ progress.  LA is reporting 99% harvested.

Cotton harvest is now past the halfway mark at 53% harvested which is ahead of previous years.  KS is furthest behind at 18% but still ahead compared to previous years.  AZ, TX, and CA are the only other states reporting under50% harvested but all are at least at 40% harvested.

Sorghum harvest is at 78% this week with TX finishing harvest.  The overall progress is above previous years.

Peanut harvest is at 84% overall which is ahead of previous years, ahead of 2018 by 10% even.  VA is close to finishing at 99% harvested and next is FL at 97%.  TX is furthest behind at 50% harvested which is ahead of 2018 but behind the five year average.

Sugarbeet harvest is at 70% with MI most recently crossing the halfway mark.  This progress is behind previous years by 20%.

Sunflower harvest is at 31% overall.  CO and KS are reporting over 50% harvested while ND and SD are under 30% harvested.
